If you are looking for a piece of history, there is nowhere else in the city that beats Western Addition/NOPA. One of the only neighborhoods to have escaped the 1906 earthquake and fires unscathed, its Victorian homes are the oldest in the city. It is also the heart of the city’s jazz scene and has important ties to the history of African-American music. It is still the place to go if you are looking for great music and nightlife, offering a casual and cool atmosphere that gets a little rough around the edges.
