“Life truly begins after you have put your house in order.” – Marie Kondo
Since we’re spending a lot more time at home these days, it’s best to take the opportunity to declutter your home. Whether you’re trying to get your house ready to sell, or you simply want to free up some space, here are 3 methods to help you declutter your home.
Marie Kondo, a renowned Organizing Consultant, author, and TV show host said to only keep things that speak to your heart. Then take the plunge and discard all the rest. Tidy up by category – not by location – start with clothes, then books, papers, miscellaneous items, and finally, sentimental items.
Choose 12 items to throw away, 12 to donate, and 12 to be returned to their proper place.
Gather four boxes and label them: trash, give away/sell, storage, or keep. Take the four boxes into every room in your house and place every item into a box.
No matter which decluttering method you choose – the secret is to take your first step with enthusiasm and excitement. Decluttering frees up extra space, makes home cleaning easier, and gives a breath of fresh air.
